Good morning beauties,
I missed you guys so much and if I’m honest, I really wanted this to go up sooner, but life got in the way a bit, and mental health did too, but I’m here, I showed up and I’m ready.
My christmas was as it usually is, lots of planning beforehand to make sure everyone can make it and that no one is working, it’s tough when you have a large family. But we did make it to our christmases this year. They were all busy, bustling and crazy and loud (big families) we ate a bunch of delicious food, played games and opened gifts… and it was exhausting to say the least. Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy it, but I find social interactions to be exhausting when they aren’t with my partner as we live together and interacting with him has become part of my daily life and I’ve adapted to it.
However, spending time with a large family or two large families… is a lot, especially for the anxious. So, while I love it, it also exhausts me, even just spending a few hours in such a group. So there was that, but I had a great time and it was something both my partner and I needed after spending so much time isolated form everyone during the pandemic this year, it’s mostly just been the two of us.
So anyway, we saw our parents, opened amazing gifts and drank delicious wine all the while stuffing our faces with food until we could eat no more… bu isn’t that how it always is?
Now, for the good stuff, what did I get? Did I get any writerly or reading related things? Hmmmmm….. Well I got a lot of what I had asked for, A scentsy that I have not turned off since I got it and about 7 different scents to go with it (which I have been hanging out quite frequently, I think I only have 1 left to try) and I absolutely love it! It’s nice to have a home that smells clean when you walk in (even if your life is so busy you didn’t have time to do much cleaning) and a rock salt lamp, something that I’ve wanted for a good long while and I was so excited to open it!
So with those two dim light sources, we now have a good soft light for in the evening, one that doesn’t hurt our eyes or cause me headaches. So yay!!
We also requested a blender for making smoothies and protein shakes when we go back to school to help make our lives a bit easier. We did get it and two large portion cups to go with it. I got a smart watch which really helps during work hours when I don’t always have my phone on me for the time, but I haven’t taken it off because it has also been helping me keep track of my health, exercise and sleep patterns.
Now what you’re really interested in, I did in fact get a couple of books, two that I asked for, The Midnight Library and The Library of Lost Things which I am so excited to get started on, like you would not believe! And I do have a few more gifts which have not been ordered yet. They are my gifts to myself and I am buying 3-4 indie published books as a splurge for this month and a kick-off for 2021 (yes I’m aware that has already happened, but I haven’t had a lot of time lately so please give me a break) but those I am also very excited for (when I finally choose which ones I’m getting).
So my christmas was crazy, hectic, and exhausting, but I loved every second of it and I had a lot of fun which I am thankful for, as much as the interaction exhausted me, I really needed it. It’s been quite a lonely year, I think we can all agree on that.
Thank you so much for tuning in and spending some time with me, it means a lot and it helps the loneliness brought on by the pandemic that you’re all here with me too, even behind a screen. Have a great rest of your week guys and have an amazing January and New Year! Get lots done, but don’t overwork yourself, I’ve been struggling with that too, but that’s a topic for another day, another post. Happy reading and writing! Remember we all need interaction and to take care of our mental health. I understand better than anyone that it isn’t always possible, but when you can, when there is time, don’ t shove it to the side, it’s important, more than you know.
Until next time guys! Lots of love. Take care of yourselves and keep up the amazing work you’re doing!
