Writing Routine | A Day In My Writing Life
Hey all you lovely people,
I know I’ve posted about my writing routine already, but I thought it would be fun to go through a day in my life when it’s a writing work day. As I have since moved and I do have a slightly different routine, especially with all the new things I’m starting to incorporate into my schedule.
So my day usually begins at 9 am not too early that I feel tired before 10pm, but also not too late in the morning that I feel like I’ve slept the entire day away. I go through my morning routine by making a cup of coffee then giving my bunnies their morning pellets and then brushing my teeth and washing my face. By the time I’ve finished that the coffee is ready.
After fixing my coffee is when I go straight to my desk and get to the things that I feel are most important that morning. If I’m feeling sporadic or unproductive or I’m just eager to get things done, then I’ll usually start by planning out the tasks I want to get done for the day. They’re usually small tasks like dishes or sweeping or writing or reading. Things that are important to me and that I want to make sure I fit into my schedule for the day. Other days I will check my emails first or even writing if I feel very inspired when I first wake up.
Then I’ll usually bring up some of my social medias and my blog, especially if it’s a day when I’m planning to write a blog post. As I want it to be ready for when I do decide to begin writing or if I get a great idea and need to write it down. Often I will even begin writing them right away as I want to finish them and get to the other items on my list. Some days my list is rather short, especially if I’ve already gotten a lot of my household chores done that week. But usually on Mondays is when it’s getting fairly long. I usually start my week off fairly busy with a lot I want to conquer. Sometimes I lose momentum through the week, but often it’ll just end up being more focused or dedicated time to certain tasks like my writing or reading time as none of my time is being taken by chores.
I also don’t have a set schedule that I do everything in. But I do prioritize the most important things and get them done first. As I tend to lose momentum throughout the day. I used to write best at night because it was quiet, but when you live in a quiet place with a nightowl, the mornings are the best. And not having a set schedule also means that I eat throughout the day just whenever I feel hungry.
Now I also give the bunnies their lunch pellets when I get up to eat my lunch and their dinner ones when I go to eat dinner.
I usually get to sleep after midnight or even after 1am. But I’m usually in bed by around 10-11pm to get in my evening reading. It’s something that I got into because I wanted to read more and then I realized how much I love it. My partner is also very respectful of it. He doesn’t often interrupt this time. And will usually join me around 1am or later than that depending on the night as he is trying to change his sleeping schedule to a more normal one. So right now he will go to bed at a normal time about half the time and will go to bed super early into the morning the other half. When I got to the room to do my reading before bed, I give the bunnies their last portion of pellets for the day.
They are very much integrated into my day. I also will stop what I’m doing to cuddle them quite often and give them the attention they need too.
My partner and I do take some time, at least once a week to spend just us doing something together. Like watching anime or something to spend some quality relaxing time together.
So that’s it, my current writing routine on a daily basis, on a writing day of course, because you all know that I do still have a job on the side to pay my bills. But this is what I do and how I spend my time when I’m not doing that.
Thanks for hanging out with me today, this post was fun, I really enjoyed it. I will also be posting about my goals for a week in my writing life and how I manage them and which goals I usually focus on the most because after doing this post, I think that one would be fun.
Anyway, thank you so much for being here and being interested. So look out of that next post. But that will be it for me today. Got more tasks on my to-do list to complete for the week! Lots of love! Happy reading and writing. Until next time, bye guys.
