What Is An ARC Copy | Why Are They important?

What Is An ARC Copy | Why Are They important?

Good morning all,

Okay, so you may have seen me mention ARCs on here before. It occurred to be that I may not have explained what they are and how they are important for any author, but especially for indie authors. So I’ll do that here.

First off,

An ARC Copy is an advanced reader’s copy, meaning a copy given to a select number or group of readers to read before the release of the book to the public. I thought it was something much more complicated at first, honestly. I thought it was like a study book. Where it had questions for you to answer and harder words to read and was meant for someone who was an advanced reader. This is not the case.

They are given out to ARC readers for free in the hope they will leave a review before the release day. Because reviews are important.

Now, you may already know, but I’m going to say it here now. Having reviews for your book on release day is important. It can encourage more people to buy it if others really enjoyed it. Leading to a spike in release day sales or a spike during a book’s release week. This could even cause it to climb up in recommendation categories.

These are a good thing. And that is why ARC Copies are important. It helps give a boost to the book. They are especially important for indie authors because it gives them a leg up when they are starting from less than traditionally published books. Because there were a lot less people involved and less marketing done because they don’t tend to have a marketing team, but are doing the marketing themselves or have help from friends and family.

Having these reviews go up can help your book get seen by more people in your potential audience. Which leads to more sales and more hype about the story you told. They are very important. Though not entirely necessary. Not every author does them because they do cost money and there’s no guarantee any of the ARC readers will review it.

Anyway, that’s all for me today. I’ve got a lot of work to get up to. I have chapters to edit. We’re getting close to the finish line now. Which is very exciting. Lots to do today. Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope to see you here again! Happy reading and writing! Until next time.
