Coffee With Writers: Prompt Poetry (Start Small)

Good Evening Amazing People,

How are you? Are you feeling like you lost your creative flow? Tonight I’m feeling that way, I haven’t done any of my own writing all day and I feel like I really need to write, but I can’t. I’ve got my cup of coffee, a good attitude, and a burning desire to write. For me, there is no better feeling than continuing a piece you’ve already started and finding a new groove within the writing or finishing a project at long last and feeling the relief of finally being done. Tonight I hope to get one of those things for myself. I am determined to write and to write something good.

Perhaps I should start with a writing prompt to get the creative juices flowing. What about poetry, perhaps a short poem. Now for the topic… maybe a poem about writing or my struggling with my own writing. Okay, here goes, this is my attempt to restore my creative juices so I can begin channelling them:

Pen to paper

things begin to go blank

I think and think

but all feels lost

Oh glorious light

rain down and restore

what has been lost

gone like the wind

before a breath is taken.

Gorgeous like the sun

but never as bright

something fled beyond us all

something dark and sinister lurks near

all could be lost

but one soul stands forth

ready to face it all.

I know it’s not perfect and there were only slight changes made to this as I wrote it, changing to words that sounded better, but I feel much more creative now. I find that I feel more creative after having created something small. I think I’m ready to write, I hope you all enjoyed this writing prompt to encourage creativity.

Feel free to use this poem to spark your own creativity, some of these words I have used in several poems because they tend to spark my imagination.
