Character Names Are Important | My favourite Character Names
Good morning all you lovely poeple,
It’s so great to be back at it again! I have been very busy with reading and writing, both for school and my own. But I did promise more content and I am delivering. I’d like to branch out a bit on the things I talk about here so there is more variety for everyone.
I’d like to talk about character names, what I look for in character names, what things my favourite character names contain and my favourite names from books I’ve read. I like a lot of names for different reasons.
Character names:
Gender-neutral names
Names with nicknames
Original/creative names that are easy to pronounce. (if I can’t pronounce it, I make up a pronunciation in my head of how I think it sounds).
Nicknames
Unique names that I’ve never seen before
Names with a meaning relevant to the story/that mean something to the story
Names/nicknames with a story behind them (within the story, a time when the name came into being/was created and why)
Names from mythology
Gothic names
I like names that I can pronounce and ones that are completely unique and I am a sucker for nicknames, especially in romance. They just feel more personal than a first name and they tend to be super cute. I like names that give me feelings (it’s hard to explain).
Favourite names:
Tristan
Adeline (Addie)
Tempesta
Bianca (Bi)
Leila
Aoife
Pidge
Darcie/Darcy
Evelyn
Rafe
Xeni
Mackenzie (Mac)
Mercy
Benella
Alicia
Oscar
Rose
Anyway, that is the breakdown and I am certain there are more to add to the list, but none I can think of or find currently. I thought it might be fun and helpful to talk about what I tend to enjoy as a reader.
That is it for today, but I will be back again real soon with more content. Much much more. I’m really wanting to unleash my creativity, even here. As I have been missing it a lot since returning to school.
Well, happy reading and writing! Lots of love! Until next time.
