Be Your Own Inspiration
Hello Lovelies,
How you doing this week? Did you miss me? I missed you. And I’ve been thinking. I’d love it if I was an inspiration to any of you, but most importantly, I want you to inspire yourselves. Because no one is your biggest cheerleader like you are.
Because, let’s face it, when everyone else gives up on you, you’re the only one who’s still chugging forward, who’s still working toward that goal, striving for more. You are the one putting in all the work and even if all you can manage is a little, it’s still more than anyone else has put into your work. You’re the only one that can do it and even if all you can do is that little bit every week, you show up and you’re there and you try really really hard.
I see lights on in the dead of night and I think to myself, those must be the creatives hard at work, striving for greatness and believing in themselves. So believe in yourself and believe hard because the only person that will get you to your goals is you. And that takes guts and a boat-load of strength and determination. You are strong. And you’re brave enough to keep trying and refusing to give into your failures and mistakes. Because we all have those.
You see your worst work and still manage to turn it into something unrecognizably great because you still believed in it when it was a piece of shit. You believed in it when you wrote the first line and knew you weren’t going to keep it. When you pushed toward that end goal even though you were going to throw half the words out the window because at least you had a starting point.
You’re brave and you’re strong, and it’s beautiful and remarkable to watch. When we’re creative we tap into something no one else can see inside us. And it creates magic, an idea from nothing but a single thought spreading like a fire inside your mind. I’ve felt it and it’s an incredible feeling.
So give credit where credit is due and it’s due right inside you. You are the reason you don’t quit. Because you refuse to give up. You refuse to beaten down. And you are an inspiration to us all, but you should take a look at all the magic you have created and know that you were an inspiration to yourself too, even if you didn’t know it. Because only you kept you going. You may have needed help from time to time or a reminder, but no one can keep you at your desk, in front of your blank page, besides you.
I hope this was a message of inspiration and a lesson to look for what inspiration you give yourself in your own creativity. Because trust me, it’s there. And the rest of us see it.
