Good morning guys,
I hope you are having a lovely and productive day. If not then hopefully it is a restful one. As the title suggests I took a short break from writing. Not long by any standards. I only took one day as I was so exhausted. My bunnies were restless and kept me up for most of the night and I still had to go to work. So I decided that today is an okay day to be a rest day from this. I still did some author platform things, but no writing in my current WIPs at all. I needed a bit of a break
Now, breaks are okay guys and sometimes very necessary especially if we’re feeling completely drained. It’s okay to take a break and to let yourself be okay with not being productive some days. As long as you aren’t making excuses just for the sake of procrastinating or putting off your work.
I was okay taking Wednesday off from writing because I had made so much good progress in my work the last couple of days that missing one wasn’t going to break me or put me behind with my plans or goals. I just needed some rest and that’s okay.
I did some extra reading, some self-care and drank lots of coffee to get me through the workday. I spent the evening relaxing. I decided to be gentle with myself as I have been lately because I am trying very hard and I have made progress in other areas of my life. I’ve been trying to get my anxiety under control, to a more manageable level and I’ve been improving towards that. Plus not only have I made progress in an old project, but I have also been more consistent with my author platform posting which makes me happy.
I have been working really hard, especially through my burnout these past weeks, to keep my productivity up and so a day of rest is acceptable in my mind and more than welcome. I want to be more rested for the work I plan to do tomorrow.
It’s okay to take a short break if you need to. Sometimes we need an extra minute or two, yes even from the things we love especially if they are what we hope to do with our lives. Don’t overwork yourself. listen to yourself, your body and your mind. You may need rest. It’s okay to rest. I promise.
Thank you so much for tuning in today guys, I was so glad to have you. This is an important talk, especially for the creative community who is striving towards a career in the arts. We tend to want to overload ourselves and get more done faster than is possible. We need to learn to take breaks every once in a while and take care of ourselves. You’re important too. Your work will be there when you get back. It’ll be fine.
I’m so glad to have you here today. Have a great restful day and weekend. Be productive when you can and practise self-care, especially on the bad days! Thank you so much for your support guys. Lots of love! Please feel free to comment below if you’re also on a break or if you’re struggling with taking time for yourself and for your self-care. I’d love to hear from you. Until next time guys, bye.
