Maybe Burnout Is Good | New Ideas | Breakthrough | It's Not Forever
Good morning guys,
Yes I’m back once again and on time! Who would’ve thought. Anyway, yes I’m still discussing burnout as it is still a big part of my life, but I’m hoping to move on from this soon. My plans for moving have solidified and there’s even a date set. So whoooo, yay me! Then maybe some of the stress will go away. Thank you for baring with me through all of this, and the lapses and delayed posts. It means a lot.
So I’ve been talking a lot about burnout lately about my struggles with it and my successes despite it and I think I’ve made up my mind. As shitty as burnout feels, writing-wise, it may be a good thing, just another part of the process that happens on occasion. But ends up filling you with more ideas once it begins to fade.
It’s a part of the writing process that tells you you’re working too hard and you need to rest a bit more and be more gentle on yourself and not stress so much. It forces you to acknowledge your own limitations and take care of yourself a bit more. It’s a failsave if you will, preventing you from failing in your writing or from giving up. Or… it’s supposed to. But often times people struggle with it so much, they struggle against it and so it works the opposite way, causing them to give up on writing because they think they’ll never get any good new ideas ever again.
This is very much not the case. They stress about the burnout too much and it causes an extended amount of time spent being burnt out. If you relax and let it run it’s course it will end and the ideas will flow again.
I know because I am proof. I did post about this the other day, revealing my revelation during a very difficult time of burnout after having finished a draft of an old project. But I let go, I gave up looking for ideas and just gave in to the burnout, to the drought of ideas. I settled and decided I was not going to chase those new ideas anymore. And a big one came to me. Once you let go, really relax, the ideas will come to you. The best ideas come when you least expect them, ie. when you’re in the shower, mowing the lawn, at work. So stop trying to force them and just let them come when they’re ready.
Burnout is just another part off the writing process. It’s your mind, telling your writer brain that you need to slow down, that sometimes it’s good to take breaks and that not everything has to be done in one day, that in fact it’s better when they aren’t.
So, that’s my shpeal. So give in to the burnout, let it consume you, then slowly it will fade and the ideas will flow back to you again. The burnout is simply hiding them, giving you the chance to rest. So if you don’t rest, the ideas won’t come back, because your burnout won’t give them back. Take your time, writing is hard, it takes a long time. You’re in this for the long hall, not the sprint.
Thank you for hanging out and for baring with me during this difficult time. Again, I’m hoping it’ll be ending soon. But I’m also glad I’m experiencing this journey so I can help others who struggle with the same thing and give advice on how to, not avoid it (because you can’t avoid it, it’s unavoidable) but how to deal with it and work through it and still be productive.
That’s it for me guys. Have a good one, rest of you need it. Comment below if it’ll help you to talk about your struggles. I’d love to hear what’s going on with all of you. Happy reading and writing, or relaxing! Until next time guys, bye.
