Hey guys,
So I have a lot to say in this post. It’s mostly an update, but one I am super excited about! I might thrown in some extra content here for you guys though to keep it interesting and more about the writing than me because that is what this is all about. Writing great things and showing them off. Which brings me to my first point.
So I have yet to do my weekly writing stream, but I’m thinking tomorrow, maybe in the evening. But if not tomorrow then it will be Thursday morning/afternoon (as the stream might go into the afternoon).
So, now for the real reason we’re all here and the thing I am most excited to share with you! So, I’ve been posting little flashfiction bits on my facebook and instagram accounts. Yesterday I decided to begin writing the next one so I would have it ready to post on Wednesday and I got an amazing idea that ended up being way too long for just one post. So I’ve decided to take a chance and finish writing the whole thing then post it in separate chunks each with its own photo to go with what happened in that addition to the story. I ended with 9 total posts which will be uploaded 3 times a week until all nine have been posted.
I’m nervous about this but also so excited! Because of this story I’m really far ahead of my fiction postings for facebook and instagram. I’ve never been this far ahead before. I'm three weeks into June as things stand now. I’m also super nervous about what people might think about the slight cliffhangers of not being able to read the rest of it until it comes out. But some people like cliffhangers. So you never know.
But it went really well. each post is already set up and ready to kickoff on my posting days. I really hope this series does well. I feel like I’m really ahead and that feels so good.
Now, I do also have more posts coming for you guys real soon. I have June’s TBR post coming out Friday and more exciting content coming real soon.
Now I have some additional content to make this post more fun! Balancing social media accounts. How can you possible do everything? You can’t, but you can get close… with help.
Schedule - when you set a schedule for posting it’s much easier to dedicate your time to creating content when you know when it’s going up and how much time you have to work on it
ideas list - creating content is much easier if you keep a list of ideas you’ve already come up with that excite you and you want to post about, remember if you come up with a new idea, you can always add it to the list
find your groove - find what works best for you and find what platforms you enjoy the most. I certainly recommend trying to get better at the platforms you don’t enjoy as much or that you aren’t’ as good at because they may end up being the best platforms for your content (not everyone loves Twitter or TikTok) so go easy on yourself
back up posts - always have a short list of back up post ideas that are easily punched out when you’re in a rush. They may not end up looking or sounding as good, but it’ll give your audience something so they know you haven’t forgotten about them or your unspoken promise to bring them content
develop a sense of community - on every platform you’ll want to build a community, not just of followers, but of those you follow. You want those people/creators to reflect your interests (even if it is different from another platform you use or it’s not exactly what you post about) because if you don’t follow people or profiles which contain things/hobbies that interest you then there isn’t a point to it. Be consistent when following back
make an account anyway - this one I did get some somewhere else, but I do wholly agree with it. What I mean is, even if you don’t plan to use that social platform for posting, if you do plan on publishing a book or selling art or creating a community, it’s always a good idea to make an account anyway. By doing this you prevent anyone else form taking your name or the name you have decided to go by (penn name). This is a good idea for many reasons, but the most pertinent ones being that they cannot advertise themselves as being you and make money selling your work themselves. The second being that even if you don’t post on that platform, you can still add your other social tags to it and if someone searches for you on that platform, they can still find you and you will lead them straight to the exact place where they can find you content and creations. So, it’s always a good idea
schedule posts (if you can) - it’s a lifes-saver, espceially is you don’t hae lots of extra time. Let’s say you have a couple hours a week to dedicate to creating posts but only on one day when your family is out off the house or when you finally get a moment of peace and are not called into work on your only day off (beleive me, I’ve been there). If this is you, or if you constantly forget to write your ppost before it’s supposed to go up then you might just need this tip. Most social media accounts (blogs included) allow you to schedule posting ahead of time, then the system publishes the post at the designated time for you, it’s hands-free and easy. You take the time to write the content ahead of time then pick a time for the system to upload it, it’s as easy as that and can save a lot of time
Now that was fun. I had a blast exploring with you what is happening in my life and the changes these actions might bring about. I also enjoyed coming up with those tips for social media. I’ve never really thought much about the things that I do until the moment came for me to come up with tips for you all. But now that I know the tips that I use, maybe I can refocus myself to always follow through on those so I don’t fall behind. But that doesn’t seem likely in the near future. everything has been going really well
Anyway, I know a bit of a longer post, but a lot of exciting things are happening and about to happen and I want to share the good news and good vibes. I’m happy, I’m doing great and this feels good. I feel like I’m becoming more of who I am meant to be, more of who I want to be.
Anyway, that will be it for me guys, but thank you so much for popping on to see me today. I really do appreciate it! You are all amazing, beautiful humans and I love you all so much. I hope you enjoyed this tips and I hope they work well for you as they have for me. I use them all myself so they are proven to help (in some cases) and they may help you too. Lots of love! Happy reading and writing and social media-ing. Until next time, bye-bye.
