Writing Prompts List #1 | Word Prompts

Good morning all you beautiful, talented writers,


Boy, do I have a treat for you all today. I know you, as you are just like me. We are both writers. And I know sometimes we struggle with coming up with new ideas for characters, plots or even our next big idea. Or just forming the idea in our minds enough to write about it. This is where prompts tend to come in. Word prompts or phrases or one-liners or story starter prompts all help us out when we’re feeling a bit stuck.

So I’m going to do something different. I’m going to stream of consciousness this thing. I will write down So stream of consciousness, rapid-fire addition to come up with these prompts for you and because I’m doing it this way, they should all be relatively related unless my mind goes way off in another direction. From the very top of my head I will begin, and then I’ll add in a few phrases I thought of from thinking about the word prompts I write down.

Phrases/sentences/one-liners:

  • Her kiss could bring any manty to his knees. But make any woman stand taller.

  • His love was the only love she’d ever need, she thought as she pet the warmth of his furry head.

  • She could make you feel like the only person in the room whenever her red lips smiled.

  • The only partner you can love is a dead one.

  • The tiny beady eyes sparkled as she nudged the small animal forward once more, their journey only just beginning.

  • He gripped his companion tight, holding the warm body close to his and hoped neither of them died there today.

  • If you could hold this light of her heart in your hand, you’d never show her sorrow.

  • All the joy in the world couldn’t make him stay another day in her wretched, tainted embrace.

  • Holding her close, he whispered his prayer that at morning light she would still feel the same in his arms.

  • He gripped the grizzled fighter tighter to his chest and hoped they’d finally get their chance when the war was over.

  • Companionship held nothing on the still silence of self-love.
