Good Morning All,
Share with us where you do your best writing or where you enjoy your writing the most. Maybe it’s sitting on your couch, your laptop in your lap and a cup of coffee in your hand with the news playing in the background. Maybe it’s laying in bed with your phone’s notes open. Share with us your writing place and tell us why you love it so much.
I have a few places, but my favourite is in front of an open window, a nice breeze blowing in and the sounds of outside wafting in (of course not in the winter months). The fresh air helping to clear my mind and help me concentrate. With a wall of notes next to me and my laptop sitting in front of me. Usually, there are also snacks and drinks, tea or coffee, chips or chocolate. Sometimes there is music playing in the background, other times I sit silently for a few moments then begin writing, the sounds of outside all that accompany me. Usually, this place is indoors, I do write outside on less windy days with a pad of paper and a pen. With a laptop, it is more difficult.
I enjoy this writing space because it gives a little distractions without being a distraction. I find that a little distraction distracts the part of my brain that critics me and the one that butts heads with my creative side trying to tell me what to write or what words to use. And with that part distracted, I am free to write as I choose. The fresh air keeps me calm and soothes any tensions about my life or my work as do the sounds outside my window, traffic or birds.
But for me, anywhere where there is a little noise, but it isn’t bustling, is a great writing place. On a bus that isn’t crowded, in a library next to a study group. I am not too picky about the places where I can get work done. As long as I have a chair to sit in and something to write with, my phone, laptop, or a pen and paper. But I usually write in my home at small desk that has just enough space for me to work or typing on my laptop sitting on the couch.
My places to write usually include a snack or some sort and a drink, sometimes chocolate or chips or little candies, on occasion veggies and coffee, tea, water, or iced tea.
