How are you? I’ve missed you. But I’m back now and spending time with you and so excited for today’s topic. Reading. you all know by now that I am thoroughly obsessed with talking about writing, but I am equally obsessed with talking about reading and books. I absolutely love book discussions.
Now, if you’ve read an earlier post you’ll know this, but for anyone who maybe hasn’t been following as closely or maybe hasn’t had time and for all you new people, I began by reading romance. That’s what got my hooked, the relationships, the love, the connection. And I lived there for a while, but once I got into fantasy there was no going back. It opened up so many new experiences and reading genres to me. I became more willing to try new genres.
Now I’ve dabbled with horror reads, thrillers, mysteries ,even a little bit of sci-fi which I was completely opposed to before because I don’t like the idea of a space setting. But now all sci-fis are space related which has me wanting to try some of those too.
And again in an earlier post I listed my current TBR and there is a bit of variety in genre there, but it’s mostly centered around fantasy and that’s because I love it so much. I love when sub-genres like sci-fi or romance or paranormal or mystery mixed in just ramps the story up for me.
Lately though, I’ve become totally obsessed with mystery books. I read on and I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know who did it and how it happened. I needed answers form the very first page. So that’s what I’m really hoping to get into next and I am so excited!
I’ve gotten myself a few cozy mysteries which I kinda have been feeling recently. I hope to get to those soon, but I am trying to finish my TBR stack which seems sky-high as of right now. I’m thinking though, that I”ll just start reading one and may blow through it super quick anyway. Who knows.
My partner and I have also been reading manga together which has really gotten me excited to read again, not just having a partner to read with, but reading in a new format is really interesting and intriguing and I’m loving it. I’ve also begun reading all the Garfield comics from the very beginning. I’m nearing the end of the second year of the published comic strips. So I’m reading in some new formats and mediums now also. This includes reading more YA and middle grade books as well. Which has been interesting.
So, as of now I am reading in most genres and really enjoying it. Not to mention it’s really opened me up to trying more genres and sub-genres which is exciting for me. I find it difficult to try new things, but once I actually do find I usually enjoy them. Which is why I feel so grateful that I have a partner who is firm enough and pushes me enough to try new things. He convinced me to try sushi and now I absolutely love it! You could not part me from my sushi now. And anime, I am in love with it, probably more than I am him… Though I don’t think he minds… too much.
