Good morning lovelies,
Yes, it’s that time of year again where camp pops back up and we try to write a novel in 30 days or attempt to finish one we’ve already started. There are many ways people use camp nano to further their writerly career. I personally, am using this camp nano to try and finish editing and revising this draft of my main project my thriller series book 1.
For those of you who don’t know what camp nano is maybe you’ve heard of NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, which is in November. Every November NaNo begins again and writers come together to face the goal of writing a 50,000 word novel in just 30 days. Some succeed, others don’t, but the most important thing about nano is the getting started and still striving for greatness, even if it cannot be achieved.
So, camp nano strives to do the same thing, only they do it about half a year before nano does. And during camp it is more likely that people are not starting a new project, but returning to an older one. And the goals are your own to choose, if you’re writing a novella if only 30,000 words or a short story of only 10,000 then that would be the goal you set, you don’t have to write the 50,000 words form November.
But the real goal behind these events with NaNo, is to brings writers together to a place they can find support, accountability, friends, and where they can finally get started if they’ve been unable to in the past. NaNo builds a community of writers from many places and brings us together under one roof, the NaNo site and events.
At it’s core NaNo is a community, one where writers can feel comfortable being who they are, talking about writing and goals, and imposter syndrome and the struggle of getting started among so many other topics, and find the people who understand them the most. NaNo has built a community of writers from all stages of development, novices, beginners, experts to a place where they all belong.
Now, yes, my NaNo project this July is to finish editing BK 1 or to at least get a nice good chunk done if nothing else. I want to get this project done. I can feel it progressing and it’s getting so much better, the story is fleshing out more and changing for the better. It’s no longer the same story it was about a girl tracking down her father to kill him. It’s so much more than that, and has an entire series worth of tension and conflict and empires falling. It’s time to finish this draft and move to the next.
Yup, it’s Camp NaNo time, come join us over there, especially if you’re having trouble starting. We’ll help you out and support you all the way through. This is my NaNo profile in case anyone wants to be friends over there and continue that sense of community Celine Rose Marie.
Anyway, thank you so much for popping on. If you’re participating in NaNo this July let me know down below! Or maybe you’ve just decided this community sounds like it’s perfect for you? Let me know and maybe we can chat about your struggles or what you’re looking to achieve with the help of camp. This will be it for me though. Lots of love! Happy reading and writing! Until next time, bye, bye.
